Information

A violin and piano duo joins the commemorative cycle marking the 140th anniversary of the birth and the 70th of the death of Aita Donostia (1886–1956). The program creates a dialogue between tradition and modernity: ranging from T. A. Vitali’s noble Chaconne to the lyricism of Tchaikovsky (Sérénade mélancolique), the Basque flair of Guridi (Canción, Improvisación), and the Two Romances by Aita Donostia. Ravel’s Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré also evokes the friendship and affinity between both composers. The journey is completed by Albéniz’s Tango, Brahms’ impetuous Sonatensatz, and a theatrical nod to J. Bock’s Fiddler on the Roof. A concise and vibrant tribute to Donostia’s legacy.
