Information

Within the framework of the cycle commemorating the 140th anniversary of Aita Donostia's birth and the 70th of his death, we present a program for cello and piano that bridges his legacy with the European tradition. Alongside pieces by Aita Donostia, the repertoire features works by Jesús Guridi and José María Usandizaga—three complementary perspectives on Basque musical identity at the beginning of the 20th century.

The program is enriched with two pieces by Armenian composers, evoking Donostia's connection with Armenian culture through the mezzo-soprano Babaïan, an intimate friend of the composer. As a great Romantic cornerstone, Johannes Brahms' Sonata No. 2 in F major, Op. 99, places this dialogue in a wider perspective, where the lyricism of the cello and the pianistic architecture converge in an experience of intensity and refinement.
